Josef Hermanns currently lives and works in the Bahamas, where he works as a consultant in International Trade and Development. Prior to his career in consulting, Josef Hermanns worked in banking for a multitude of years. He began his career in Frankfurt, Germany, as he was born in Cologne, Germany. His father worked in banking, so Josef Hermanns followed in his father's footsteps and worked in public and private banking. His impressive work in the field eventualy led to his getting recruited to work in banking in Canada. Josef Hermanns thus moved to Canada, where he worked in banking in Toronto for a number of years. While in Toronto, he was a member of the Toronto Olympic Club, where he was a competitive runner in his spare time.
He later moved to the Bahamas to continue banking, where he excelled greatly, and later transitioned into consulting. He has always wanted to try out a new area of expertise, and his knowledge of the banking world has given him the necessary skills and prowess to be a success in consulting.
Josef Hermanns also holds the reputable and prestigious position of Honorary Consul for the Federal Republic of Germany in the Bahamas. The holder of this position is chosen by both the President of Germany along with the Bahamian authorities. The individual who is to be chosen for this role must undergo a rigorous screening process and background checking. Josef Hermanns has held this role for the past 14 years. In this role, Josef Hermanns works closely with the Bahamian Authorities, the German Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica and the German Consulate General in Miami to address issues and concerns that arise in the Bahamas that involve Germans. Josef Hermanns addresses issues and emergencies that involve Germans living in the Bahamas, or German tourists in the Bahamas.
